SEMARANG- Lecturer in Informatics Engineering at Bina Darma University, Palembang, Ari Muzakir MCs, successfully achieved a Doctoral degree after defending his dissertation in the open session of the dissertation examination for the Information Systems Doctoral Study Program (DSI) at Diponegoro University (Undip) on Monday, August 5 2024 at the TTB A Building, Undip Postgraduate School .
Dr Ari Muzakir MCs conducted dissertation research with the title “Classification of Hate Speech Texts in Indonesian Using Fusion of Semantic Enrichment and Convolution Neural Network (FuSE-CNN)”.
The Examining Team consists of Prof Ir Mochamad Agung Wibowo MM MSc PhD (Dean of Undip Postgraduate Studies), Prof Dr Rahmat Gernowo MSi (Head of DSI Undip Study Program), Prof Dr Kusworo Adi SSi MT (Promoter), Dr Retno Kusumaningrum SSi MKom (Co Promoter), Prof Dr Ir R Rizal Isnanto ST MM MT IPU ASEAN Eng (Examiner 1), Dr Eng Adi Wibowo SSI MKom (Examiner 2), and Prof Dr Ridwan Sanjaya SE SKom MS IEC as External Examiners from Unika Soegijapranata.
recognize hate speech spread on social media “X” (Twitter) in short text form.
“Hate speech sentence patterns generally involve targets, categories and levels that are difficult to identify due to limited semantics and unclear contextual information, and impact classification performance with multi-label data. Conventional approaches generally extract semantic features separately, making it difficult for models to capture the complex meaning context in hate speech texts. “This approach often fails to take into account the context underlying hate speech,” said Dr Ari Muzakir.
Furthermore, the development of methods that are able to integrate and understand the context at large is crucial in overcoming these challenges through different combining strategies. This research aims to develop a new approach to improve the performance of hate speech classification on multi-label data using fusion of semantic enrichment and convolutional neural network (FuSE-CNN).
