The Information Systems Doctoral Study Program (DSI) of the Postgraduate School, Diponegoro University (Undip) held a community service activity in Kandri Tourism Village, Gunugapti Semarang on Saturday, May 3, 2025. This activity raised the theme “Training on Business Location Marking with Google Maps for Tourism Actors in Kandri Tourism Village to Improve Tourism Accessibility.”
Kandri Village is one of the leading tourism villages in Semarang City which has received a national certificate as a Hope Tourism Village. The great tourism potential in this village is the background to the importance of digitalization training for business locations, in order to increase accessibility and ease of access for tourists.
This activity was led by, Prof. Dr. Ir. R. Rizal Isnanto, S.T., M.M., M.T., IPU, ASEAN.Eng., as Secretary of the Information Systems Doctoral Study Program. With team members Prof. Dr. Rahmat Gernowo, M.Sc. Prof. Dr. Ir. Purwanto, DEA Prof. Drs. Mustafid, M.Eng., Ph.D. and Prof. Dr. Drs. Catur Edi Widodo, M.T.
In his remarks, Prof. Dr. Ir. R. Rizal Isnanto said that this training is part of Diponegoro University’s commitment to supporting the development of tourism villages based on information technology and digital transformation of local MSMEs. This training was attended by 15 MSME actors engaged in the tourism and creative economy sectors in Kandri Village.
The participants received direct training on how to mark their business locations on Google Maps. It is hoped that this technology can increase online business visibility and make it easier for tourists to find their business locations.
This activity received a positive response from the local community. Masduki, S.Pd.I, as Secretary of the Pandanaran Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis) Kandri Tourism Village, expressed his appreciation for the implementation of this activity.
“We hope that this training can provide real benefits in increasing the number of tourist visits and strengthening the local economy,” said Masduki. Through this activity, Diponegoro University (Undip) emphasizes its role as a higher education institution that is active in community empowerment and developing local potential through the application of science and technology.
